I would have to agree with Braclin on this one as I sell a lot of birds to FFA and 4H kids locally and more than one high schooler had my birds represented at the fair when we were there Friday. The state fair is an open exhibition and the majority of entries are from the up and coming...

I know the exact bird you are talking about because my wife grabbed my arm when she saw his very fine barring. He was beautiful. There were at least twice as many pigeons represented this year and close to double the number of chickens too. It was a good overall showing of birds. It also...

I would just ask what I've got in them-how's $5 a bird? I'll try to get some pics up of them tomorrow.

I'm getting out of partridge plymouth rocks completely to focus on breeding of my speckled sussex and barred rocks. I have a great starter flock up for sale to someone in the central KY area. I have one male that has a gentle disposition & proven fertile. I also have 4 hens that are great...

My wife came home with 8 straight run bantams from TSC this afternoon. It looks like all but one are pullets. She picked out at least 3 cochins, one English game that has a bad attitude already and one clean-legged black pullet that is the runt-can't determine the other 3 with certainty just...

I am in Hart County just south of Hodgenville. I called the Hardin County Hatchery and the woman said they no longer hatch birds there but she places orders on one-day olds from a supplier just like you can order direct from Mt Healthy, Ideal, Murray McMurray, etc.

Mt Healthy has some nice looking birds, but they're about 180 miles one-way for me to drive.

Anyone have a local source of red sex link pullets in the central KY area? I don't feel like ordering just 4-6 one-day olds from Ideal or McMurray.

I had to deal with frozen water inside the coop today for the first time this season...oh how I wish it was in the 50's again. My girls' egg production took a nose dive after it turned cold a couple of days ago. I went from about 10/day down to just 2 today. It looks like I am going to have to...

Quote: I believe there is a map like that for the forum but I don't know where the thread is. I looked and looked and looked but couldn't find anything so I made one. Apparently Frapper doesn't exist but I found one that seems to work well. It's basically google maps but you can put a push...

Quote: Any fertile eggs from the sussex? I would love to hatch some. Not at the moment. The roo I got from Meyer has not successfully fertilized an egg since I bought him last fall but he is so sweet I can't part with him. I will be looking for a local source for a fertile roo soon and will...

I am relatively new to the board but not to chickens. We live on a farm just south of Hodgenville with 5 partridge plymouth rocks, 4 barred rocks, a BO and about 10 speckled sussex birds.
