Just keep the tall grass and weeds away from the coop and you wont have much of a snake problem. Agree 100% with an elevated coop. Love mine. Easy to clean and care for. Plan on shade curtains for the west side of the run. Helps a lot with the heat. And ventilation, ventilation...

We , Frankfort here, get all four seasons. Sometimes in the same day. You will have to prepare for brutal 98 - 101 Temps and brutal -35 wind chills. Torrential rains from tropical depressions and drought for weeks. Welcome home! I have a large covered coop and run. My girls also have a big...

Hello there. Yes downtown is flooded very badly. Thankfully I live up the hill. Can't really complain but I do have standing water in my run cuz it has no where to go. We are all clay and lime stone. Little to no drainage at all. The girls don't mind. They are wading around in the...

That's what I'm afraid of too people getting them and not knowing what they are doing. YouTube videos only go so far. And they don't have smellavision. I would hate to know a chicken suffered from a keepers lack of knowledge.

Hey Ya'll. I want to help people that are thinking of getting chickens. Like a basic keeping 101 coop tour type of thing. I think I could help them decide if they A: REALLY want chickens B: show them the housing requirements C: Let them be close to a real live chicken. That might seem...

This is a shot in the dark, but is there anyone that can give my accidental rooster a good home? He is 5 months old and so far a nice boy. He was raised with some older hens that have been teaching him some manners. His name is ZZ.

As the saying goes Get chickens and the Predators will come. That was my main concern too. One of your big expense will be hardware cloth. Don't even bother to buy chicken wire. And I would strongly suggest investing in an auto door. It only takes 1 time to forget to shut the pop door or...

I'm so glad. I have got to get the winter panels off my run! This rain has my roofed , guttered, drained and ditched run a mud pit from the water coming up from the ground. Getting the panels off will allow more air flow to dry it out.
