    Yes we have extra challenges in this area because it tends to rain and/or flood ahead of bitter cold spells 😩 i had Halloween HatchAlong chicks a few years ago when we had one of these spells and there was a “coop break” (similar to a jailbreak) that resulted in some frostbite and lost toes ☹️

    Basically heated watering base or other method to resist freezing and ventilated but draft-free coop. I added a cozy coop heater 1 time when wind chill was in the negative 20-30’s And still had some get frostbite due to escape but in general no need for anything crazy

    I hate to burst your bubble, but the chain stores TSC and RK get their chicks from mostly Hoovers Hatchery. The rabbits however are typically sourced from local breeders. They do typically keep chicks into the fall but not as much variety.
