Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

They both look like pullets to me and Welsumer. The brown leghorn looks very similar but would have white ear lobes instead of red. This spring I had 2 Welsumer pullets from the hatchery with very extremely different growth rates... both ARE pullets, but the bigger 1 we called Giagantor...

Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

Now that makes sense. The tall standing 1 does have the classic marking of a laced Wyandotte though it's hard to tell from the pic if it's actually gold as you expect or silver. I'm sure you can tell in person. I wish I had doubt about your Welsumer being a cockerel. But I would definitely make...

Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

Sorry I keep posting like a troll! I looked up Speckled Sussex chicks and see lots that look just like yours... https://www.google.com/search?q=speckled+sussex+chicks&rlz=1CAHPZZ_enUS574US575&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjjl7SXpovUAhWI8YMKHf0qBxkQ_AUICigB&biw=1093&bih=523&dpr=1.25

Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

The speckleed one appears to have a straight comb though? That would be incorrect for a Wyandotte... but not the first time I've seen it. AS far as the speckles go, could be a color Wyandotte I'm unfamilliar with.. but that is NOT a gold or silver laced because they *should* look the same as...

Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

Try fermenting your feed since they like it when you wet it. The difference in the way the poo smelled so much less bad was the convincing factor for me to stick with it when I first tried. :sick The other benefits are great as well. Check out the link in my signature line and feel free to ask...

Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

Ah yes, the what gender /breed is one of my favorite games. :pop I agree, lots of chicks look very similar to the Welsumer. :loveThe clues that make it easiest are comb type, skin/shank color, earlobe color (hard to see when young IMO), and other things like crests or feathered legs and how...

Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

Farthest right, tail barely coming is your Wyandotte, should not have a straight comb but rather a rose comb. But unless the dark one with head in dish is the same, you do not have 2. Do you know which kind passed? Chick with head in bowl is NOT a Wyandotte but maybe your Welsumer. Other dark...

Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

I don't even see a Wyandotte unless it's the one I think is the cuckoo Marans.

Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

Your Marans looks like it might be a cockerel. Your fist pic looks like a speckled Sussex. And is that a Welsummer that has no tail? Did you get these sexed or straight run?

Majorly different growth rates in chicks?

Actually... hate to be the barer of bad news... the ones that have no tails are your cockerels. They look normal to me for two weeks.
