14 again today. Trying our best to eat them all. We had a mess of delicious caribou eyes made with homemade brioche bread this morning.

You will eventually discover a number of ways to break an egg :D. My favorite (and that of others on this thread) is to forget I have them in a coat pocket, or to forget the egg basket and try to pick up too many at once.

@karenerwin suggested more protein. When we want to get a few eggs in the winter, we feed the hens a daily ration of sprouted red wheat or oats, even a tray of cooked oatmeal helps to get them laying. You might try that as well. I still think a camera to eliminate or prove the idea of an egg...

Exactly what she did, a dozen to the niece-in-law and 3 dozen scattered to the rest of the family. They loved it and we moved some inventory! It will be a unique gift!

My wife took eggs, a kitchen item and recipes to our future niece-in-law's wedding shower last week. Why not? I would rather have eggs than a few of the wedding gifts we got! :lol:

First thing I might suspect is a furry four-legged egg thief. Especially if your chickens are healthy and showing no signs of mites etc., or that they are eating the eggs. Maybe you can rig up a trail cam to see what is happening around the nest boxes? I would find it strange they would all go...

These are all young first time broodies...maybe inexperienced? We pulled all of them but an Olive Egger that has been the most calm of the bunch and is setting on the last 6 eggs.

Ours didn't lay until 30-32 weeks. Laid a few then stopped for the winter and picked up again in late Feb. They were worth the wait for the beautiful dark eggs. 6 today.

Returned to the farm today to discover 9/15 hens broody, each on a pile of eggs. The farm sitter took good care of the flock feeding and cleaning but did not deal with the broodies...said the roo wouldn't let her (that I can believe). I guess we'll have to figure out what to do in the morning...

When we picked up our stock from Whitmore they had some older Welsummer and Marans pullets they were willing to sell, so we went ahead and took those to be sure. I still wish I had picked up one of their Welsummer or Ameraucana roos to work on Olive Eggers.
