yep spring has sprung at last.
My gas bill should finally drop lol

7 eggs today.
The peeps started hatching today. We had separated the broodies and their clutches from the other chickens. However, the broodies killed all the hatchlings. We did not expect that. I'm not sure what to do from here. We may need an incubator in the future and not leave it up to the broodies.

yep it's pretty rare but happens in all animals sometimes

These are all young first time broodies...maybe inexperienced? We pulled all of them but an Olive Egger that has been the most calm of the bunch and is setting on the last 6 eggs.

Oh that is so sad poor little chicks. Something else for me to worry about for the next 9 days!

2 early eggs again so far! I'm going to need to find some egg recipes they are starting to pile up - DS1 is away in Holland visiting his gf, DS2 is sick of eggs already (he was the one so looking forward to eggs every day for breakfast!), luckily my little man is still egg mad and is happily tucking into a fried egg sandwich for his brekkie I'm starting my low carb diet again today too so that means lots more eggs consumed by me!

Another 4/4 day - I thought silkies were supposed to be a bit rubbish at laying - Doris hasnt' read the book LOL

got two eggs today! Still No Cornish from what I can tell. But soon hopefully.
