Chez, I don't think there is a "normal" anymore. I just take what I get and hope for more the next day.
11/24 but two were broken. Added more cushion to the boxes so hopefully the girls won't be breaking anymore eggs when they lay them. You'd almost think they were dropping them out instead of...
7/19. I must say, we were getting 6 eggs/day and then decided we wanted more, so we added 13 production plant girls to our flock. Now we get 6-7 a day. Whoop ti fricking do. That was the worst $50 I let my husband talk me into spending.
7/19 but I kept interrupting their day because I was working at home today and kept wanting to go "visit" with my girls. I let them out in the yard today, hubby won't be happy about that but when he's not here I'm in charge, right?
We're up to 9/19! So much better now that stinky is in the garbage can out at the street and not in the hen house eating our eggs anymore.
Poor girls, I would lecture them and lecture. No wonder they gave me the bird.
I got a surprise. 2 whole eggs, 3 broken eggs / 19 girls plus 1 thief caught in the hen house. Now I know why my egg count has been so low, the skunk has been eating them all. I'll have the last laugh on him when I catch him soon and haul him off to the mountains!
1/19. ONE! Out of 19! What the heck? OK, so 13 are molting. Fine, I forgive them. But the other 6? AND, I think the one that was laid was from a girl that's molting! GRRR.
5/6. Getting some new hens tomorrow but they're moulting so they won't be really regular layers. They're coming from somewhere that had them caged. Will they act differently?
