Been getting pretty regular 4/6 but lost one of our best layers today. She came stumbling out of horse stall and when I went to check on her she was very weak and extremely prolapsed. Think maybe horse stepped on her. She died in my arms while I was trying to figure out what to do. Really odd...
Seem to be getting pretty consistent 4/6/6. Wondering if 2 might be stashing something out in the pasture but haven't found any there. Good news is that all we are finding are actually in nest boxes.
Girls have only been laying for a few weeks (nov 15 hatch). out of 6 we were only getting 1-2 eggs/day and very small. Yesterday DW found their hiding place and we had 22 eggs - 1 actually in nesting box for the first time. All sank very nicely so figure they can't be more than a few days old...
Any tips on getting my pullets to start using the nest boxes? I'm in N FL so I have an open coop built around an older 4x8x3 coop that was on the property. They didn't want to go in there so I got 2 outside boxes but they ignore those as well and lay all over the place on the ground. All boxes...
