They're all new layers so I'm guessing it must have been a very first egg for one of them

5/6 but not sure they all came today. Found the clutch in a corner of the coop.

These are my first from a flock hatched ~15 Nov. Very tiny.

Ok guys.. A little help... I looked for a candling guide and they are confusing....

I've got 3 eggs with cleanly defined air sacks but the rest of the egg is very dark... They are brown eggs so hard to candle anyway but I can't see anything through them now.... Are they older then I thought? Or dead? Any help with a picture would be great... Thanks guys... Oh and I had 2/6/7 this morning but because I had to pull 2/5 eggs from the hen I slipped them in.... I know they will be late hatchets but maybe the littles won't hurt them if they hatch...

I got 9.25 eggs today out of 12 hens I have laying. I was a little befuddled when I found this one in the nest box. All my girls should be laying medium to large eggs and somehow I got this little gumball today!

Same happened to me yesterday!! So weird. Haven't had that happen in a year and that one was blue. No new layers. Nobody regressing. No stress. Everybody happy and healthy looking. Just an odd incident I guess. "Gumball" is the perfect name for it!!!

I want to keep it as a souvenir but I also want to crack it open and see if it is a full mini egg inside! Did the one you had before have a white and yolk and everything?

Yes, it was a "real" egg. Yolk, white and all. So funny! I ate it in with my other eggs. (wouldn't have been very filling by itself...tee hee)
