I will end up with at least 22 but hope to have the layers in a different coop which is 10 of the 22. I am so into hatching and forgot to think ahead about how many I can actually care for. Out of a flock of 56 ten will stay with a grandson, about 10 will be butchered so now I still have 16 to...
Welcome all to the Ohio forum. I am in Doylestown Ohio in Northeast Wayne County and just down sized to a 2 acre lot. My chickens used to be free range but now I have to pen them up, I feel so bad for them like, I just put them I jail!!! I need to build or buy a small building soon to house...
I got 4 straight run blue silkis in June and Last year I got a Black roo from Meyers Hatchery. You can pick up your order if you want. It's a neet place to visit.
I am picking up a pair of Seramas this week on Interstate 70 and the seller has a few extra roos. Is anyone in Ohio looking for this breed? I couldn't find any serama breeders in Ohio and these small chickens make great pets and they sure draw attention at the fairs.
I know this is short notice...

So now you just have to come uo with a price that you are comfortable with and then add in the cost of egg cartons. Just tack on another 50 cents. I started out with saved cartons but very few bring them back. Good luck, it's nice to get your feed cost covered and our chickens bought...

I get Dumor layer 16% crumbles at TSC for 10.99 at the Wooster store. I find if you buy from a store in a farming community they are cheaper. The Wadsworth store will price match for me (thet're 2.00 higher) I have a mixed flock and crumbles are easier for the sultun and the silkis.
I have no idea what organic eggs sell for, I would check out your store for prices. I do not know all the details but there are gov. regulations on claiming you have organic eggs or organic anything for that matter. So if you want to go organic you need to check on that. Now back to egg pricing...
Not true but I don't think they all carry the same types. Wadsworth had bantam straight run, leghorn pullets and ISA Brown !I think) pullets. You can check on line at Myers Hatchry and they will send out a catalog with great pics.
This is one of our ISA brown from TSC last year. The kids made them to friendly, if there is such a thing! Last summer someone left the house door open and we found a chicken in the dog crate in the family room.
Don't panic ! There are all differant shades and I don't think a roo would have that much brown on it. If you do have a roo I would buy it from you. My 3 big roos are cochin and If I want to continue selling large brown eggs I will be needing new stock and would need a rooster of the same breed...
I have a cabin close to Sal tFork off of Fairground Road, thought about taking some hens with me when I go down just for company and eggs. What type of chickens do you have?
Call your county health dept. That is where I was told that 500 and under was the amount of chickens I could have with out having to follow the State regulations on poultry and selling eggs. Meat birds were 1,000.
I filled out papers in Feb. to had my 2- 10 parcels changed to Agi. By the time they deducted 1 acre for living and the wooded area, the creek and frontage right of way I ended up farming 12 acres. . One parcel is rented out and he farms 8 acres in exchange for 300 bales of hay. Good Luck in...
Looks fine to me. How many chickens do you have? I am in Ohio and checked with our health dept. as to how many chickens I could have before I had to be regulated and follow state laws for poultry production. I can have uo to 500 chickns before I have to comply with state rule for the sale of...
