I made a Rubbermaid tote into a brooder, works pretty well. I clip the light to the side of the tote. I don't use the 250 watt heat bulbs. I use 100 watt regular bulb and the chicks are kept in a spare bedroom until they are feathered out enough to go outside.

Yep sure did! Looks like we got about the same breeds. I had two polish that were doa. Very sad, husband said why do the cutest ones always die. I think he likes the chicks. Lol. I'm not good at guessing breeds, so I guess time will tell.

Bantam Cochins and blue laced red wyandottes. All from shipped eggs. Total of 18 live chicks out of 38 eggs. And this was my first time hatching eggs, I'm kinda patting myself on the back right now.

Hatching babies today. Had to help 6 but all doing fine so far.

Put 7 blue laced red wyandottes in lock down today 2 hatched. These eggs were shipped from Texas started out with 14 and will probably only have 3 hatch. Setting 20 in lock down tomorrow that was shipped from Kentucky. Hoping to have better luck with this bunch.

First time incubating and first time receiving shipped eggs. Set 42 and so far I've got 32 developing. Now let's hope they hatch...

Just got my first hatching eggs in the mail today! Blue laced red wyandottes, I've got another dozen due later this week. And a dozen cochin bantams. Will put them in the bator when the next batch come in. This is my first try at hatching shipped eggs..feeling a bit anxious!
