She's being a good mamma so far. She's keeping all 5 tucked under close. I just want to hug her. I don't think she'd share the feelings. Maybe a little later. I took her out some treats and we kept seeing the blue one pop his/her little beak out from under her fluffy butt. She's being more...
She decided to let me see her babies half way through my cleaning. IThey're adorable. Mixed with who knows which hen. No idea what she even is. I have 2 Silkie roosters. Both white. Some of the babies have yellow skin. My husband even came out to see them. I was shocked.
My broody just popped out of the coop with 5 babies. Silkie mixes. Have to be, I only have white silkies. Unless I missed something somewhere. TSC silkies. They're so stinking CUTE! Probably not a good idea for me to be homing anyone. I still have 2 other broodies hanging out in my shed.
Hey yeah, that's the people I was talking about. If you stand out in front of the bathroom from the big shelter building/pole barn at the entrance, they're usually up at the left hand corner by the wall. Lol! I guess I'm going to have to beat you there! Lol!
Someone had some beautiful silkies at lucasville in June. MOST were gorgeous SQ too. I talked to them, and they were just getting rid of the blacks because they came from their BBS pen and they only wanted the blues. I can kick myself for not getting a pair now. :(
Awww! I want one! I need to get some better quality silkies for my girls. They want to take them to the fair next year. I think they're outside playing in the rain as we speak. And they're white silkies. Biggest mistake of my life. Lol! Think I'm going to show the girls some black silkies and...
I haven't made it to a single one. I went to the very first one and it was canceled because of rain. I thought about taking some of these dag nabbin tsc silkies my girls just HAD to have. They're pet quality of course.
Are there many birds there? I might get my lazy bum up early and go.
You
That's it! You're a genius! We don't use our upstairs! And there's 2 spare bedrooms up there! Wonder how long before my husband notices a lot of peeping coming from upstairs?
Well, I'm not sure how these hens are going to be as mommas. Suppose I'll find out! One's a barred rock, a speckled Sussex, and a solid white hen that I know nothing about, except she decided to sit and that's that. I don't mind having the babies. The more the merrier. So much easier to slip...
When does everyone shut their bators down? Or do you? Thanks to my neighbors, I only have 4 hens left laying, but 3 have went broody. I thought their timing was a bit ridiculous, but they didn't agree with our chicken talk. I'm worried I'm going to have 3 batches of babies freezing outside. I...

Thanks! She worked hard with that little rooster. His first and last show. She wouldn't let him get dubbed, so his show career is over as fast as it started. I think he's too old to be dubbed now.
Good luck at the fair! Have a heart to heart with him and drag him by the halter! You've still got a week to go. He doesn't sound to bad. But it's been a long 15 years since I've had horses. Maybe I'll see you there! I love the fairs. (food) ;) I didn't realize there was more fairs after...
Good luck with colic.
My 10 year old finished up Highland Co fair with this:
Sorry. Had to brag on her. Her first year of poultry and I swear I read the brown Co fair a few posts back. :)
