OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Thank you kindofodd such good tips! I've been researching "winterizing" prefab coops on BYC for a while. And almost every thread was filled with people saying you pretty much need to build a coop as a prefab just won't cut it in winter. I'm starting to panic! I know it's only September but it...

Speaking of cold and prefab coops, with winter coming I was wondering if anyone knows how a prefab coop from TSC will hold up as far as warmth in winter? I really never did have or do have the ability or time to custom build a custom coop. I just really hope I don't have to make any major...

They are all the same age, born on the same day. I believe only one is laying currently as I only get 1 egg per day. Again they're just a few days shy of 20 wks. I can't be sure I've never raised chickens before.

Thank you all! I'm going to run to Tractor Supply after work today and grab some layer feed and oyster she'll (my local small business feed store is closed when I get off ). I got another egg this morning and it was still small but the shell seemed strong, maybe it was just a fluke for the...

@mamatink7 @cabinchicky They are just a few days shy of being 20 wks. I haven't yet switched them to layer feed, just because I have about 5 pounds of grower left I would like to use up before I buy new feed, don't want it to go to waste!

Got my first egg this morning! Yahooo! The shell was very soft, and the egg itself was teeny tiny, barely larger than a ping pong ball. Is this normal for the first eggs?

Random question. I clean my coop weekly and every time have been noticing a large amount of feathers and fluff in the bedding. I mean a LARGE amount, in the run too. My ISA's are about 3 months old, should they be losing this many feathers? None of them look patchy or like they are missing any...

I'm thinking I'll build a new one and use this for something else, don't quite know for what yet though. I graduate from UF on saturday, so until I find a big kid job I'll have some time on my hands to figure it out.

Starting to regret buying the prefab coop from tractor supply. Two days in a row now I've had to run out to stop Roger from chasing the chicken as the latch on their coop has failed and they escaped! Off to menards to buy some better latches....

We aren't entirely sure what he is. The rescue only knew that his mom was a registered Aussie, but the rest is a mystery! Hard to believe this cute little face was returned to the shelter 3 times!

Just wanted to share this picture from yesterday! We had a lot of concerns about how Roger would adjust to the chickens, but they have become fast friends :)

Any ideas for a cheap roof for a run enclosure? Have a nice coop built and a temporary pvc run, but would like to have something a little more permanent. Build is done just need a cheap roof!

My girls are just over 4 weeks old. I pick them up and handle them every day and as far as I can see they are fully feathered; I don't see a speck of their fluffy down anywhere just big girl feathers! Is it safe for them to move to the coop? I will probably keep them inside the actual henhouse...

What kind of feeds does everyone use for their layers? Mine aren't quite ready to be off of their grower yet but I'm trying to be proactive. Brands? Crumble or pellets?

How did you like your chicks from TSC? We got ours from the one here in Findlay. Did yours all turn out to be female?
