Does any one want a buff cochin cockerel. He's the last of my bantams. Found two dead and one was having seizures in thier coop. The one having seizures passed away while I was holding him about five minutes ago.
What kind of predators leave almost no trace? On more than one occasion I've had full grown birds just up and disappear. No feathers scattered, no scat, or foot prints. Sometimes I even check trees and around the yards around us. And other times I find things left behind that make little sense.
I can wait a couple weeks. I got stuck with 3/4 of my tsc straight runs being Roos already lol. But that would give me time to finish additions to the coop. The bantam chicks I have now are about 3 weeks old I believe so there wouldn't be much of a size gap than if I got day old hatchery chicks
Red wouldn't be very good for meat either, he isn't as muscular since I clipped his wings and he is a smaller breed. He's a beautiful EE roo but he refuses to be the beta. I'd have to check if my post count is at 20+ So I can try to rehome him on here. Not really the culling type myself, just...
I have a bit of a dilemma.. I've got 3 roosters and they've gotten along fine until they were a year old. I have a good rooster whom comes running at any sound of distress from the hens. A mean one whom attacks me when my back is turned, then runs away when I face him. And a "child friendly" one...
I had a few silkies. They were sweet, wonderful birds. My whites turned out to be standard size and I only have my roo left. His crow is so quiet and he's a timid teddy bear of a chicken
I lost a bunch hens over the course of two months in October/ November, hadn't had problems before they were 6 months old. Not sure what attacked them either. Most bodies were intact with just the feathers missing on the back. I'm sure a raccoon or stray took off with a couple, never found any...
I'm right by downtown Middletown lol. Hey, do you have problems with any other predators than the Red tails? I saw a young one once about 6 months ago but it never came back. We do have possums that come in occasionally
