    Mites or molting...

Also- I know the lice aren't necessarily a big deal but I'm still seeing loads of feathers and I'm worried that if I missed lice I may have missed mites too. I think I want to treat them for both just to be safe. But I'd love to avoid egg withdrawal.

    Mites or molting...

Ok... @azygous im definitely not going to be able to spinosad elector pap right now. I did notice spinosad in a lot of "organic" garden insecticides that were cheaper. Do you think that would work or just go with permethrin?

    Mites or molting...

@azygous- or anyone else who wants to provide some guidance...tonight I found lice under one of my birds. Would you suggest the seven dust or going ahead with the spinosad (sp?)? Where would I get that and is there an egg withdrawal period? TIA!

    Mites or molting...

Ok... so don't treat them unless I see bugs. That's what I was trying to decide. Other than feather loss are there any tell tale signs of mites or lice? Btw I'm beside myself with excitement. My EE was in the nesting box this morning sitting as if she were about to lay. I think it's getting...

    Mites or molting...

Oh I see. I've still got so much to learn. I think I may do a precautionary treatment just to be on the safe side but after hearing how long it can take to molt I bet you guys are right. Thanks for the help @azygous & @ChickNanny13

    Mites or molting...

Aw man! So that means, from my understanding (pardon my ignorance this is my first flock), that they won't lay until they're done right?

    Mites or molting...

I've been seeing feathers for at least two months. Again their ages are 6-8 months. Does that sound normal?

    Mites or molting...

Well now my inexperience is showing and I honestly don't know if it's mites or lice. I'm going on a hunch. When I move their feathers around I don't see anything unusual. Just clean skin and normal feathers. It doesn't seem like they are losing large amounts in any particular area. Should they...

    Mites or molting...

In my flock of 9 6-8 (ish)month old pullets only two are laying. I've been being patient but Ive also been noticing feathers all over their coop which I kept thinking was molting but it's been going on a long time so I'm suspecting mites now. I don't see any mites on them but I still think it...
