Here is a pic of our hybrid chicken pen. First half was T-posts with 2x4 welded wire around it with regular chicken wire over the top and a second layer of graded wire around the bottom. Addition 1 was 3 sides of a dog pen and cut a hole between. It's not the prettiest but it works.
$5 a piece! The 3 mallards I'm for sure selling (I think based on size they are 1 male 2 females but not sure) and I want to wait on the mutts a little longer to see how their coloring turns out and male/females on them.
:-( why do the predators always come around when my DH is out of town????? I'm wondering if it was sick or confused or something since it was light out when I saw it.... glad i didn't let the chickens out this morning tho! ducks are out on the pond or locked in the pen i think they should be...
Opossums, are they are predator for my flying friends or will they leave them alone and eat other bad things???
I saw one this morning (first time on the farm) and he kinda scared off back towards the trees and the field but i assume he was headed back to the woods and coming down the driveway...

Its more for my piece of mind :-) We had 2 young ducks have snakes attempt to eat them last year and just killed and left them but after I put the repellent out we haven't seen a snake since till today so in my bubble world it works.

Me TOO!!! I came out and just saw the momma duck running in and out of the house quacking and i didnt see any babies! I was worried it had already gotten them! I think hes about 5' but i left him curled up in the container DH can handle him when he gets home!
So my DH reminded me last week to put out the snake repellant.... it was before Wednesday's storm so I figured I'd wait till it dried out, of course I forgot.... so today I come home from lunch to a very large black snake in the pen in one of the duck houses.... thankfully he could not get to...
