@katsdar please post lots of pics of your LO, I have given this much thought and decided not to get them. Sorry, @carcar80 . I worry that they will be too large for my little chicken tractor and some of the turns getting in and out of the upstairs or by the feeders in the lower part. I will be...
Hi all,
I know many people use Sevin dust for "off label" uses. I hope this is helpful information for those thinking of using for gardens or chickens.
Here is a copy of the material safety data sheet:

Thank you for the idea PapaChaz and for the good info! I can easily make another pvc run to keep the new ones for a while and have them see each other and even connect during the day after a while, but I do have an automatic door that keeps the 2 SLW in the coop at night and lets them out in...
Hi all, I need some advice please. I have been reading on BYC on adding to my flock and I am so thorn now. It looks like it is so hard! So I have 2 SLW that are about 4 months old. I got them as 2 months old. I have a chicken tractor that has a 3x5 upstairs for roosting and food, water and a...
Thank you, @Flowerbh . They have been changing feathers and getting more white, getting prettier in the last couple of months. It is so fun to see them change so much in such a short time.
Hi all, I have been lurking in the background for the last couple of months, I finally added the pictures of our new tractor and our chickens. Only 2, does that count? They have been here for 2 months and we have had so much fun seeing them grow and learning all about their personalities. Some...
Hi all, I have been lurking in the background, drooling at pictures and learning. Don't have any chicks yet, still working on the coop, almost there!
Wonder if anyone has done business with Sweet Basil Farms? If so, would you please let me know how it went? ok to pm me with info as well...
Hi all, I too had a really good time at the swap and got lots of goodies and the supplies I needed. Many thanks to Flower for the instructions and seed for the fodder, and to Cliff for organizing and for the coupon for the feed. Too bad I left early so I missed meeting everyone else.
I did not...
Yay! Thank you, Cliff for all this hard work! That is great news, I have been counting down the days! You may want to update the other thread on the tractor supply swap, I was monitoring that one and just now realized it is back on.
I have a long list of supplies I need that I have been saving...
Thank you so much for the detailed explanation and picture, Flowerbh. I have a total newbie question, please. How do you know how much fooder to give them? Do you still feed them the layer pellets? Do we have to worry about overfeeding chickens like we do dogs? Or do they eat only what is enough...
Hi, can't help you with any logic, been fighting the chicken math myself :-) There are so many breeds and they are all so pretty!
I am building a small tractor for my very first chickens, and will have only 3 ... or at least that is the plan. I have been thinking well, they may not all make it...
Counting down the days to be there! Can't wait, been wanting chickens for so long! And my friend asked me to get her 6 ameraucanas.
I hope to find a blue australorp or blue orpington for me. And a EE or Ameraucana or Cream Legbar. Think those are the ones I am looking for my 3 ... so many to...
Thank you again for all the great info. @CliffB thank you for the link to t1-11.
I found this link to a mother earth news plan for lightweigth coop http://www.motherearthnews.com/diy/how-to-build-a-chicken-coop-zm0z11zhun.aspx?PageId=2#axzz3OxD0CrPb
So now I am wondering what if I make the...
@CliffB thank you so much for the explanation. Any suggestions on what could be used that is light weight and yet predator proof? Would vinyl siding work?
Thank you, @carcar80. I am taking your advice to heart, and I am now planning on having the tractor in the heavy shade for the warmer months. I have lots of shade, though I will have to do some work to get parts of it more level for rotation.
