I have a broody barred rock and I have no clue how many eggs are under her. How do I check? I think I read somewhere I wait for her to go to sleep? I would also like to put a few more eggs under her.
She already bit me once, because I didn't recognize what was going on.
I made an awesome spreadsheet to track my chickens this year. You should look at it and tell me what you think.
The Hatch sheet is still under construction when it comes to sheet totals and linking to the totals sheet.

Anyone in the Dawson, Pickens, Forsyth, Cherokee county area want 7 chickens, all 9 weeks old? 5 Black Australorp Pullets, 1 Black Australorp Cockerel, and 1 Easter Egger Pullet. I picked them up a few weeks ago, and I haven't had time to put up my coop extension. They've been living in a box in...
I'm starting on my new coop tomorrow. It will be a 8'x20' walk in! The neighbor whose dog wiped out half of my flock had mounds of reclaimed wood he is letting me use for it.
I found a great deal on some hens to replace my poor pullets that died from the dog attack. Now I'm trying to figure out how I should keep them separated for the suggested period. I'm picking up 4 BR hens and 1 RIR rooster to add to my 2 white rocks, EE and WL.
My white rocks lay 5 eggs a week, and are decent meat birds too. Their eggs are fertilized by either my cochin or the RIR at the moment, so I don't know how the chicks will turn out.
Unfortunately my RIR was taken last night, along with my barred rocks, so until I buy another rooster, and more...
I've shot the **** thing with my BB gun several times! It keeps coming back. I really like my neighbor. He's a sweetheart. I don't want to drag his dog off to the pound. Fortunately I am out of 9mm ammo, or else I probably would have killed it last night.
My neighbors dog killed 10 of my 20 chickens tonight. I literally ordered by hardware cloth today and have been steadily securing my coop. The dog killed his masters chickens yesterday, and I told him this morning that once a dog tastes live chicken he will always go for more. I put the girls...
Anyone in the North Georgia area know where I can buy untreated feed barley? Everywhere I've read says people pay ~15 for a 50lbs bag. The most I've found was $30 for a 50lbs bag. I really want to start growing fodder.
Once again I am going to refer someone from this board to TC Country, right off hwy 20 past Kroger. She ordered silkies for me. She gets a shipment a week.
