If grandma says no to the rooster inside, then that is probably a no to house chickens. Here is a blog on chicken diapers. https://homesteadspirit.com/make-chicken-diapers/ There are also two videos - I didn't watch. Well, good luck. I hope it all works out for you and your chickens!

Predators can smell chickens. Also, it only takes one stray dog and the chickens would be gone. I read that an owl can bust into a prefab if it takes to it at just the right angle. Don't underestimate the power of the prey drive.

Well, being house chickens is a good solution too. You are crafty - convince your mom that you can make them a chicken diaper to wear around the house. ;) I'm sure that free coop is probably gone. If that was in my area, I would have snatched it up pretty quick. So, your mom agreed for you to...

Where did you get your chickens from? How do you plan to continue to care for them? They require proper feed and sometimes medical attention. The cardboard house is cute, but it won't hold up outdoors. The run you are looking at is ok, but again, it is not a shelter. The reviews on Amazon say...

I did get it from tsc! Here is a great mod of two prefabs, not the thread I was referring to earlier. I am still looking for that one. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/they-are-in-their-feathever-home.1206349/

@Star and eclipsa if I were you, I would got to tractor supply or rural king and check out what they have. Sometimes they have manager specials. You can look online to see what is available.try craigslist too - sometimes you can find a good deal. Also, chicken wire is good for keeping chickens...

Very creative set up. I'm just not sure how it would hold up if you got a predator in there. Is that their own pillow? They look spoiled already. :)

I didn't paint it. I only did thompson's water seal. Using something we already had at the house, so it was tinted. My husband fashioned a lattice run to the front and we added hardware cloth to that. This is also winterized. Then, we put up the cattle panel. But, they can onky be out in the...

Pretty much the same here. I think I am going to learn how to use tools just so I can build my own coop! My husband can, but he doesn't have much time nor the excitement about the chickens like I do.

That is an awesome price. The people around here always think their stuff is worth more than it is - and it is generally junk.
