Good morning all - tomorrow marks the end of astrological Summer here in the Northern Hemisphere. Of course in reality for those of us living north-north it's been Autumn since before the 1st of September.
Autumn here is marked by daylight hrs shortening, and nightime hrs lengthening. This...
First snow here is called poor man’s fertilizer. Farmers will plow it into the fields - there is a chemical reaction in the atmosphere which creates nitrogen with precipitation.
This is why grass greens up after a spring rain (or any rain really) - not because of the rain itself but because of...
Oh we will get warm days, but the truly hot steamy weather is gone, Autumn is upon us, the meteorological Autumn is 1st of September.
I have seen snow second weekend of September, many times I have been at a horse show second weekend of sept with me and my horse huddled under a blanket to keep...
I gave you a heart for the winter woollies - I really wanted to find a ‘terrified’ emoji for the snow fall 😆
Today it’s cold windy and calling for frost on some areas here - this is NOT normal weather for here. It should be around 80F and the mosquitoes should be annoying. Instead mum has the...
Miserable day today, rained all day, very damp and didn’t get above 16C (61F). Very unseasonably chilly. Figures, it was unseasonably hot past 6 weeks and now it’s back to rain and cool damp weather.
The sun finally came out, paddocks are greening up with the rain.
It’s a pleasant enough day. Overcast but mild, after today the weather turns quite chilly - and why not? It’s been extremely hot all summer why shouldn’t it do an about face and end up on a chilly below average note.
Currently 23C (74F), with a humidex of 28C (82F). Overcast with moderate...
Holy Dinah! That was terrifying 😞 wonder what happened to her dog 😢
This is one of my fears here, it’s been an extreme quiet summer here - no big storms. I guess all the winter snow storms and the spring creek storms make up for the quiet summer.
Between tornadoes and wildfires those are the...
Hmmmm
Well if it’s sunshine he is after, he needs to move to Alberta!
Hope he enjoys -20C and sunny! Summers +20C and sunny - what’s not to love! Sun all the time.
17c (62f) damp after a night of rain.
Forecast high of 22c (72c), with likely more rain.
Summer is coming to an end, daylight hrs are noticeably shortened now.
RAIN! we are having a thunderstorm, and the rain is pounding on the steel roofing here. I dragged the window open to feel the temperature, but the rain has made it a heavy humid air.
Closed the window - we’ll let the AC keep it cool in here.
Currently 22C (72f).
The weather will cool down...
After a cool morning (14C) it warmed up nicely for a high of 28C (82 F), it is desperately dry here, right straight through to St Johns Newfoundland.
It is unheard of in St Johns to have wildfires - snow, rain, ice yes. Fires never. My cousin and his family are on standby to evacuate.
Here...
Temps have dropped and humidity is less, had a wee bit of rain overnight but nothing to really speak of.
Currently it’s 25C (76F) and minimal humidity. Temp dropping to 14C overnight - the horses and chooks will be happy for that.
Have a lovely evening/night/day everyone.
Meanwhile Summer is still hitting strong here. We are now in an official drought here, I have been watering my fruit trees, but the farmers who have corn and soy beans are desperate for rain. Non forecast any time soon.
Of more immediate concern is the fire danger risk here, it’s high across...
23C at the moment, it’s been a lovely stretch of low humidity weather, even if we haven’t had rain in a long time.
That is all coming to an end, high heat and humidity will return by the end of the week, and stretching well into the next week.
Not sure if this link will work, but Fort...
Hard to see moon here with all the wildfire smoke in the atmosphere.
Overnight temps are much cooler, and humidity has been low, temps still in the low 30s (mid 80s), the big issue now is a lack of rain. The grass has died off, and I am now watering my fruit trees.
Another month we will be...
