Yup that’s what I’ve been doing hopefully she settles down soon. I put in a few new hiding spots, a pile of treats, filled the dust bath, and threw in a box of straw for them to dig around in.

I was kind of wondering the same lol

Yes I’m super excited to see who hatches! One of my hens is bullying the new roo. Poor guy keeps having to find hiding spots. The other hens are happy with him tho. Funny thing is, it’s the same hen the last roo really beat up. She was so submissive to everyone a week ago, now she’s acting like...

The girl I got him and the eggs from says she keeps a mix of pharaoh, browns, Italians, goldens, tuxedos, whites and she just got a pastel.

He’s super soft and fluffy! Definitely different than my sleak pharaoh hens!

Picked up my new roo and 3doz eggs last night! I set those and 12 of my own. I dropped the temp in the bator .1 degree Celsius because everyone hatched early day 16 last time. I sprayed with listerine again but the bought eggs were super clean so hopefully all will be good.

One of the fluff butts! Don’t mind the fingernails lol My roo who has been great started scalping hens today. He’s in quail jail until I can cull him. I’m picking up eggs from a local girl next week and I’m getting a new roo while I’m there. Sounds like I’ll have my pick of colours :yesss:

End of incubation update: 4 chicks are doing well, even the assisted hatch who is wearing his shoe still. He looks a bit smaller, but also isn’t quite as fluffy as the others so that may be why. After the end of day 18 I decided to make a hole in the air cells of the remaining eggs to start...

A couple hours later and he’s motoring around. Still hoping for a few more to hatch today!

I gave him one shoe. He hates it. The other foot is much better looking today although not perfect.

#4 hatched while I was at work. Assisted hatch #3 is looking quite perky now. His fluff is kinda flat from the egg gunk but he’s up and walking now. His feet are a bit balled up so I may have to make him shoes if he can’t straiten them out. I’ve placed them all in the brooder. Hopefully day 17...

That’s interesting, all my eggs are pretty uniform so far. But I kept the biggest roo in the hopes that would help.

Very cool! I need to learn more about genetics so i can start breeding with more purpose.

The hen that lays the glossy eggs has white flight feathers so I was thinking she might have a bit of a tuxedo gene in her, i incubated 3 of her eggs this batch, 2 of those have hatched and they look pretty typical pharaoh so far.

Dark brown :) all my birds are pharaoh atm. I want to order some mixed colours but I love the tuxedos! I examined the goo in the shell. I was mistaken, it was not yolk, just yellowy egg snot lol. I’m guessing there was not enough evaporated out of this particular egg. It was quite glossy so...

Ok no visible signs of hatching so #3 got a bath. There was quite a bit of gunk. I think I got the majority off. His belly is quite big and squishy so your probably right that he’s got some resting to do @Sara L I’ll leave him be till I get home from work this evening and see if things improve...

Thanks guys, I’ll pull him and bathe, as long as no one else is hatching.

It’s all covered and he pulled the umbilical with no issue, it’s just as though there was extra? I removed fluffy chicks 1 and 2 as they were pestering 3. They’re happily pecking away in the brooder now. His eyes seem glued shut and he’s quite sticky. I’ll let him be for a while and see what...

No but it’s about 6” tall so I figured it would be fine lol. Chick 3 pushed its way out but there was a small amount of yolk left over. I thought once they start to zip they should have absorbed everything? It’s pretty exhausted, hopefully it perks up after some rest. I feel bad I disturbed it...
