Absolutely. Whilst I was building by my duck house, I was also working on constructing a garden. I’m still working on the garden though. Eventually both will have a picket fence surrounding the whole bit with a partition between the duck area and the garden. This way I can let the ducks into...

Thanks. I wish I would have gone with the metal corrugated roofing instead of the more flexible composite material. But I can change that out later.

Glad to read that your husband is mending well. This is my winter fix. The north side and a portion of the east side has been covered with a drop cloth, tacked into place with a few rubber washer roofing nails. Of course the have a solids wooden south and western wall. Do you think this is...

Ok. Knowing my duckhouse design, I need to ask more winter questions. I think someone mentioned that the cold isn’t a real big problem for ducks, but that wind can be. So I’m going to make a temporary windblock. Now it’s already going to get down to 37*F this Friday. I know this isn’t exactly...

I cut it down with sawzall, and then sanded the edges until they were smooth and rounded. I wanted it to be shallow so it would take less time to fill up, and if the ducks jumped out of the pool they are less likely to hurt themselves.

Well, they were quiet at that moment. Lol. They absolutely love the pond.

Yeah, I was getting a bit bummed out that they wouldn’t use the old pond, even with changing the ramp out for steps. So, I decided I would try a shallower one. I though that maybe the depth was bothering them. I mean, it must have been... obviously they (well one of them) use it now..

Well I changed the old pond out for something less deep but longer and added steps instead of a ramp. This was changed about two weeks ago. They would drink out of the pond but never get into it. But just a while ago one of the females made the journey into the pond. She got in, splashed around...

Still won’t use ramp. So, I got a different pond. It’s longer but not as deep. That means less steps too. So I’ll be working on that soon.

I didn’t mean to post the bird pick from weeks ago.

We’ve had so much rain here in the DFW area of Texas that I haven’t done too much. Finally got some sun today, so I finished the paint on the door and scales. Now it really matches my house. I still haven’t made the steps for the pond because I’m going to change it out. Anyhow... I need to mow...

One more question: What would be a good rise and run for duckie stairs?

Well, I guess that explains it. I’m going to try and build steps instead. It will probably take up less room anyhow than the shallow slope ramp. I see them drinking out of and looking at the pond, I just know they secretly want up there. The other day when I was spreading straw, Elvira(the...
