We had a brief outing today! Not much picking, they were nervous, but so stinking cute! This weekend we are placing the coop on the ground (it is still on the 4x4s) and I hope to predator proof it soon. Until then, supervised excursions only. :)
If it warms up any today, I’m going to let them into the outside pen area. It is still on grass, I’m sure they’ll love that! I hope it gets above 60 degrees today. We’re in a cold snap - too early for me!
I have them in a coop (6’x6’). I bought contractor sand at Lowe’s. It doesn’t seem too coarse. I can add peet moss to it. Dust is not an issue.
Is there a benefit to start now - or should I wait until they start to go outside?
