    Do you have Blu-kote? The incision should close pretty quickly, but you don't need the other chickens pecking at it. Dab a little Blu-kote on the incision after you see it's remaining closed and not weeping. That will protect it from bacteria as well as camouflaging it so the other chickens...

    The eye pretty much "floats" in its orbit. Anything behind the eye, pus or even worms, will pop out with a little pressure on the swollen tissue. It doesn't erupt through the skin as would a pustule on a human.

    Here's very short video showing the technique. It appears a vet is doing it and it really does look easy. I would have some Q-tips handy as well as some soft tissues. Then I'd flush the eye very thoroughly after you're finished.

    It's good to know you have been treating the eye. Yes, chickens form a kind of pus in their wounds that is solid like wax. They're weird that way. But it makes it easier to remove since it's more cohesive than human pus. Try not to be squeamish. Study the video and give it a try. It's amazing...

    Have you tried, at any point in this hen's illness, to flush the eye with saline or try to remove the pus buildup? I agree with @Eggcessive that you need to treat it however you're able or it's probably never going to heal. I recommend you do as much of what has been recommended as possible...
