yea they’re good in incubators you just have to play with them, but you figure it out after a while. I’ve ran 3 sets back to back to back this year and I had to run it different everytime to keep the same humidity
Got these 7 out and in the brooder. 5 more hatched but still in incubator with a couple pipped I think I’ll wait till I get home from work before I get them out
Interesting I’ll have to look up that UPS thing that could come in handy. A friend of mine lost power a couple weeks ago in the storms and lost close to 500 eggs in his cabinet incubators.
To me it all depends on where you live and where you have your incubator. I run mine in the laundry room where temp. and humidity fluctuate with the outside weather. My first hatch this year it was colder and less humidity I could run the incubator by the book but now it has warmed up and...
Nice my lockdown was at about mid day so we should hatch pretty close together. I have a bigger brooder in the barn but I haven’t used it all year and I don’t feel like having to get it out and clean it. Hoping it’ll warm up a little and I can just move the grow outs outside.
Three of them had been out for a while and the 4th was zipping, so when he finally got out I moved them to the brooder real quick since none of the other eggs had pipped yet. I try to avoid opening it if any of the eggs are pipped.
One had made it out either splash or white ameraucana. I’m curious to see what the brown eggs end up lookin like they are splash ameraucana over Swedish flower. I’m thinkin all the f1s of that cross will be blue but we’ll find out tomarow hopefully.
Hm I’ve never thought to try and candle through sides I may try that tonight. I seem to be in the minority on this site but I usually only candle once about day 11 or 12 throw the bad ones out and let it go, never had any problems
I fill mine all the way up and if I see room in it for more throughout the day I add more. if the humidity gets higher than you want just open the vent a little more
