Totally agree. I just had one that was real iffy on day 11 but my last chance candling before lockdown today revealed a live, developing chick inside. One more is one more!
I can see that happening. That machine wasn’t designed to accommodate for the extra thickness of shelf liner so the key slot isn’t making enough contact and slides up. The shelf liner is a great idea. I saw it on here and I do it too. Unfortunately, to operate correctly, the liner needs to go in...
I guess I’ll add my 2 cents. For me, achieving 45-50% came from opening the vent all the way. Leave B plug in. Then fill A port. When I say fill “A” I mean before setting eggs, pull out all the pieces to expose the “A” and “B” reservoirs. Fill the entire “A” channel until all of the surface is...
By the time they’re 5 weeks it should be ok. MS weather is pretty much same as GA. They will have to go out with the big chickens though, unless I get the new coop done. I’m not feeling real confident about that one.
My brooder isn’t full but it will have 4 week old chicks when my next batch hatch. I have a temporary brooder I use during lockdown that will do in a pinch. Say I keep them a week in that, can I add 1 week old babies with 5 week old hoodlums?
Counting just the eggs that were fertile, I managed 7/8 or a good solid 87%. I had a lot of eggs that were infertile but that mistake has been covered by the seller. And those are the ones you always go back to do more business with. The NR360 lived up to its reputation!
My chickens’ eggs are extremely hard to see through also. I am able to see a dark image but that’s it. No veins and sometimes I can see an air cell. Basically clear or not. It’s difficult to accept the fact that we don’t always know what is going on. Hang in there and they will be out and...
My wife made that request a while back. I’m terribly excited that she wants to add chickens but her chicken wants have to fit in with my chicken wants. She will get her white eggs, BUT it might take some plan rearranging.
I tried to use a little foresight with the 4250. I only put 14 eggs in to start and used the most middle square section possible. I’m constantly checking it. The day counter doesn’t work and the hygrometer is way off. I have a separate hygrometer that I stuck in there. Amazingly the temp is spot...
Thanks so much for your reply! I actually remember reading all of your results now! 😂 I just didn’t remember that it was you. It’s a pretty long thread. That is really good results. I’ve been so torn over which one to get and I really hope I can at least achieve 50% on this first hatch. It’s...
I’m obviously happy for your results. But, I like to see and hear all I can before buying things I know nothing about. While the good reviews far outweigh the bad reviews, I have to read the bad ones to see what went wrong. I should read back but lazy kinda kicked in. How many hatches have you...
