    Adding new chicks...

Well we did it. Got my sis-in-law her Pekin. Got another for us too cuz there were two "senior" babies that need homes. They are almost 3 weeks. I thought that might be a little bit less Trumatic since they are not tiny babies. After Mocha, my Khaki Campbell yelled at them for five minutes they...

    Adding new chicks...

I had planned for the non-winter months at least, to keep a somewhat separate area for the ducks' wading pool...away from any bedding area and feed. When I last had chickens, about 12 years ago, we had a dozen plus 2 ducks. We kept an old snow sled filled with water for the ducks. The chickens...

    Adding new chicks...

That is definitely a concern. I am thinking about a "partition" in the coop, come fall for the winter. These darn chicks...at least for now...really love their cuddly duckies lol. I would like them to be able to at least socialize closely even if they need physically seperate living quarters.

    Adding new chicks...

We help each other and pet sit often. I don't mind the addition of one duck. She would gladly buy feed and help tend the flock. Just cannot safely keep one in her yard with her many dogs. Plus we would be adding a few for the boys anyhow. I am more interested in properly integrating new young to...

    Adding new chicks...

My sister-in-law has decided she simply must have a duck now that we do and cannot have any at home with her unruly mob of canines. She has asked to get one and us keep it with ours. Likewise, 2 of our boys have decided they like them so much they each want one of their own. The chicks and ducks...
