Chocolate is a sex linked recessive gene, so yes it is recessive, just not in females. A females will show choc if she has it, a male needs 2 copies. If he only has one, since its recessive it won't show unless he has both copies. -

This is different than what I was told. I was told lilac is the same as blue fawn, choc and 1 dose of blue. 2 doses of blue with chocolate make buffs. Still trying to learn scovy colors so I could be wrong though, lol. I was told mine were lilacs when I bought them, but have never been able to... -

My ducks are all grown up. I ended up with just 3 girls and 7 boys,so at least 5 boys will have to go. Its so hard to pick who is going to stay,. :( I am so happy I got them this year though. Love these ducks, they are so friendly, quiet, and I love their colors. -

My scovies are chicken too. After being in their coop a month they have just in the past few days ventured the 40 feet or so to the pool, lol. And they stood at the gate and looked at the grass, but werent brave enough to go that far yet. -

Woohoo, might just try keeping them together. If nothing else, maybe just splitting them up breeding season. Was not looking forward to wintertime with another duck pen to mess with, breaking ice and slipping on ice and snow with the pens I have is quite enough thank you, lol. I will go ahead... -

I am now a proud Muscovy owner! I got my first 4 a few weeks ago. And i just picked up 6 more today. I love the friendly little cuties. Any ideas on the colors of my new ones? Blue, lav, lilac? Im so confused, lol. And my 4 chocolates, with my mandarins
