My blk am roo is skittish as all get out......so are the 2 hens.....the lav. more than the blk, but my fbcm roo just stays out of my way w/o being crazy. They are both really good with the girls and once caught are fine.
I have 10 4 weeks old (today) chicks out of a sq french blk.copper marans over a sq blk ameraucana and a lavender ameraucana. It look slike I have 4 roos and I am wondering, if there is an answer.....what egg color would the roos of this cross pass on? Or is this totally unknowable? Also, is it...
I have jealously been reading all these posts and drooling over all the gorgeous olive egg photos for weeks now, but finally I will be incubating the eggs from my blk. copper marans roo and blk. and lavendar ameraucana hens next week. Can anyone tell what the chicks will look like from...
I use a needle to make the holes and only make the biggest hole maybe 1/4th of an inch and the other a bit smaller. Put your needle (or whatever) in the largest hole and stir it around to break up the yolk, then blow it out from the smaller hole. Stirring the yolk up makes it much, much easier.
While mulling over my breeding plans for some oes with my bcm x blk am or lav am, this thought occurred to me, will the egg production increase over what my am produce? Are marans better layers than am and which will affect egg production? The roo or the hen?
I am aiming towards OEs in the near future, but another evil thought has crossed my oh so warped mind....now that we can breed for OEs what are the other possibilities for color? Lavendar, coral, mauve???? Just thinking.........
I am soooooooo jealous of all you olive egg owners Am hoping to get a couple of ameraucana hens and a marans roo next month so I can quit drooling all over my monitor.
I'm sure this has been asked before but I don't know how to find it. Will you get an olive egg if instead of a bcm on a am, does it still work if it's a am roo on a bcm hen?
I'd sure be in the market late this year or early, early next year for a couple olive egg laying hens (or pullets) and a roo. Does anyone know a good source for such?
