The Olive-Egger thread!

Here is the three+ week update on my little alicefelldown cuties. (pic is them with their EE roomies as well as the big boss of the brooder, aka the little cochin sitting up front)

Course the roos are the bold ones wanting their pic took, the gals being more aloof are hanging in the back. All ten that hatched are doing well, some are starting to show a bit of gold coming in on their necks. They should become some real lookers!

Several colors of OEs here- mostly blue and splash but my favorite are the blue wheatens. I ended up with a quad- you can see the vast differences in the biggest female (center of perch) and male (lower right with lots of blue and red)

The blue wheatens are BW ameraucana roo over wheaten marans hens that lay awesome dark speckled eggs. Cannot wait to see what kind of eggs we get!

Super cute! I hatched a bunch of split-for-lavender cuckoo OEs and kept a trio. Not sure if I will have room to take it to the next step though- birds are not selling here AT ALL. I did find out that my lav ameraucanas are not totally dominant for the pea comb- several ended up single combed.

They're all split- so maybe if we can hatch some we'll get about 1 in 4 that are lav cuckoo. I am just wondering if you'll be able to see the barring seen as how lav is so pale. Also- the cuckoo marans I used doesn't lay a super dark egg, so we might just get EEs

The cool part is that the chicks were sex linked so I knew what I had early on.

My first home grown Olive Egger just hatched! It's daddy is a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana and its mom is a Wheaten Marans. I'll get some pictures when it's dryer and fluffy.
