    The Olive-Egger thread!

thanks for the data, the eggs have a nice consistent color and texture. I also like speckled olive eggs, but not so fond of the dip-dyed look or the rough textures some of mine are laying. I am breeding towards larger OE egg sizes, I would be interested to know egg size as the goth girls...

How long have your OE been laying? Has the eggshell color and texture stayed consistent? Has the size stayed consistent or are the eggs getting larger?

That egg is spectacularly green! Not putty, not brownish, I would love to see that in my flock. The first photo is wet from water, the second dry? It looks like it might have a ring of color at the top?

hope to see pictures of the UofA OE's and their eggs! Has anyone been using the Isbar as a starting point for olive eggers, since they are already homozygous for a green egg?

thanks Hangtown and ronott1, more pics and weights please as they mature! The UofA blues would not be considered a hybrid because they breed true, correct? Do either of you plan to cross breed them with blue or dark brown egg layers? If so, what outcome are you hoping for and would it include...

Hangtown and ronott1 - thanks for your replies. How would you characterize the UofA blues egg color/size? Good to know they are heat hardy - more so than crested cream legbars or ameraucanas?

I'm always interested in your latest hatch =) How does the egg size / color of the silver ameraucanas compare to any of your other blue eggers? Did you get the UofA blues direct, or from ronott1?

Penny Hen - I have an OE that looks very similar, from a different crossing: RIR x Partridge mix EE. Are the "eyes" basically mottling?

I had two hens go broody the same day I set eggs in the incubator. They all hatched the same day as well =) It was the first time I've had a broody hen, and it is beyond cute. Thanks for sharing your pics Peach2u!

    The Olive-Egger thread!

I have noticed that people are most interested in the medium olive eggshell with spots. Do you have OE's that consistently lay a spotted egg? My OE eggshells seem to change all the time; the OE's are from Crested Cream Legbars x Crele Penedesencas. I am also combining the offspring with...

I also have an OE laying double yolked eggs. In my case it's a crested cream legbar crossed with a crele penedesenca. Seems like that's a lot of work for those little bodies.

    The Olive-Egger thread!

Hangtown - further along you also posted crele penedesenca x silver ameraucanas; it sounds like you are not as interested in the CCL crosses? Do you prefer the olive egg color with ameraucanas in the mix, or is it in favor of the feathers or? The CPxsilver am. seems like the offspring would be...
