Green ones are nice, but I personally like blue, yellow or white ones. Especially recessive pied ones. I have a pair breeding that keeps on producing green and yellow dominant pied along with a lot of green grey wings, so kind of tired of green lol. Looks nice and spacious for 2 :).

I find that males don't fight to the death, but they don't really like each other that much. They do live in peace. I also have heard of very aggressive females that like to fight with males. Usually females fight when there are nests available. I find that even budgie fledgling can be sexed...

They won't fight. I recommend you get a female parakeet to avoid the risk of breeding, but you can get a male if there is no nest box to lay eggs in. She'll probably avoid the other bird vice versa, but slowly they will become friends. I think a 18x30x18 flight cage would be good for only 2, but...
