    dewormer question

3 - 5 days. That's what he has always said, and if I have to treat an indvidual I usually start with three and then just see how it goes. In her case, after the first day, she was telling me she was all better and was ready to come out. Lol. He only saw a few worms, and she didn't appear too...
  2. chicknmania

    dewormer question

If you mean what dose did he recommend for the pullet, he said 1/2 CC of the Safeguard suspension. She doesn't weigh more than two pounds.
  3. chicknmania

    dewormer question

I'm still waiting to hear back from the vet.

    dewormer question

Seems like Valbazen would be a lot cheaper....and easier, since there's less to mix. :p What do you think of the multi species Safeguard? Durvet actually makes it, not Merck. I called them and asked them about it. They said the only reason they don't have poultry on the label is that the FDA...

    dewormer question

So...45 ml for Safeguard, 16 ml for Valbazen, correct? Would you repeat in 10 days? fyi, my pullet is on her second day of Safeguard, and she is acting completely normal now, so it is very effective. The vet said 3 - 5 days for Safeguard, but whatever works best.

    dewormer question

The total weight (estimated) including the four peafowl, is 197 pounds, and to be safe I'm going to round it up to 200, since it is very difficult for them to overdose on Safeguard. Better, I think, to overestimate than underestimate. So, 200 lbs total.
  7. chicknmania

    dewormer question

That's the problem, they're a variety of weights. We have young birds 6 - 7 weeks old that weigh less than a pound, up to our mature peafowl weighing about 10 lbs each. What about Safeguard Multi-species dewormer? It's a pelleted feed supposedly suitable for feeding to poultry, but I can't...
  8. chicknmania

    dewormer question

We have 42 birds. (Hopefully soon down to 40) So, I'm thinking you'd figure like 3CC per gallon of the Safeguard suspension, mix as thoroughly in water as possible, then mix into the mash? ( we have four peafowl and 38 chickens..some of the chickens are pretty young...6 or 7 weeks)...
  9. chicknmania

    dewormer question

Please see above, how do you figure out proportions?
  10. chicknmania

    dewormer question

I remember that was said before by someone one here, I think Kathy mentioned it, I was just going to ask her. So how do you figure out the proportions? do you mix the dewormer in water and then add to the mash?

    dewormer question

Ive seen Levasol and Tramisol referred to as separate medications in more than one site, so that is confusing... I've pretty much exclusively used Levasol, because it is water soluble and because yes, I've always heard that there's no alternative that's water soluble. And yes, I'm aware of the...
  13. chicknmania

    dewormer question

I dewormed our flock with Levasol in mid October of last year, but I think there's some resistance developing, because the vet found Capillary worms in a fecal today for one of my pullets. So, I'm going to deworm her separately with Safeguard, as she's in hospital pen, but I wondered: 1) Is...
