Does anyone have any advice on hatching goose eggs? Or is it the same as hatching regular chicken eggs aside the fact that it takes 28 days. I read somewhere about cooling and misting the eggs. I would rather not change incubation methods but if misting is a for sure winning method then I would...
As far as cold, I guess it depends. We have had luck with eggs that we pulled out of the fridge and they hatched.
If there was no new eggs added to her clutch then I would say day 25 is all over just to be safe. If your still not sure you can candle before tossing them out.
It's really hard to keep the weasels out. I have caught a mink in a have a heart. Maybe that would work for your weasel. Try cat food in the back of the trap and cover the whole thing with wood and other debris to make it inviting for them. Maybe spread a little cat food on the trap- wood debris...
Yeah that happened here once also. Tom trkys are not graceful at all. I think when they see a hen on the nest it looks like they are ready for service. Did he really break them on purpose or where they just to close to the action?
When they are fully feathered it is said that they can withstand the cold of the outside. Of course they need shelter from the rain so they don't get chilled. Also I wouldn't object to getting them used to the cold a little first. Maybe move the rabbit cage outside a few times. Oh yeah and a...

So the trip to Lubec was fun. The ride was 4hrs one way but it was fast. It was nice to see all of the Muddy Hoof Farm. She had a lot of nice little coops everywhere. Roosters crowing and Guinea fowl screaming. Oh yeah and geese hinking and turkeys gobbling, Nice goats also.
Just finished...
On a different subject, collected the sap today from the maples. I hope the weather stays this way for a little bit so that my tapping efforts are rewarded.
So today 6 of 9 turkeys hatched. I kinda wung this hatch, I never marked the first day in the bator but my intuition worked because I stopped turning them 4 days ago. They all look good also expecting a mother to hatch out some tomorrow or the day after. Anyone Interested in some Naragansettes?
shipped eggs don't always hatch good. That was new for us when maybe 1/3 of the eggs made it. Something about them going up and down in the plane and all that other stuff.
