Scruffy looking new roo. Pot, mange, molting?

I got new hay today, and i cleaned up the hen with diarrhea. The "run" I'm putting them in, in my garden, is pretty filthified (2 days) and is attracting massive amounts of flies. I was hoping they'd scratch and eat all the plants and insects under the plum tree but they've trampled and pooped...

That's what the red streaks make me think of, too, except that really they remind me more of a rooster who stepped in paint a month ago! It's odd looking.

Thanks for the nonsurgical epsom salt treatment link. Sounds good. The roo has red streaks up his yellow legs and red webs on his yellow toes. Unusual?

Yeah, i figured we're going there next. I don't know how involved i want to get i this guy, though. There are plenty of other roosters out there and this guy's been treated so badly, he's got to be sort of neurotic.

The more i learn about these chickens, the less i like their old owner. The roo's wings are clipped, but they clipped part of his wing itself, too! I hope that was an accident They don't have names, i got a text today from the lady i picked them up from

I got to clean up the other hen's feet and the roo's, too. He has injuries on both feet with black scabs. One scab is pretty big and thick. It hurts him. I cleaned it but it didnt come clean yet. I put some antibiotic on it, but it's not really treated yet.

Yeeeeah. I took a shower afterwards. Poor thing. She was actually a lot cleaner than i expected. And I didn't see any parasites. There was some caked on poop, that could have been nits or eggs, but it was brown and seemed like caked on poop. She wanted to go back in the run with her buddies...

Oh, thank you so much. 10 minute soak with my hand on her back, or you expect she might sit there of her own accord?

I think he goes to the pot. Scruffy dude 1. Is mean to subordinate hen 2. Doesn't correct dominant hen when she doesn't allow #2 to eat 3. Doesn't shut up from 6am to 7pm. 4. Today he didn't let his #1 hen eat. He wanted it. =bad roo. 5. Plus all the obvious. Ugly. Let a bunch of hens tear...

Oh! Well, ellis's are always red. So maybe she's opposite? But good to know. I couldn't see how i imagined that. And her food isn't that white. Thank you

Off topic, what's up with my hen that i have had, who has red earlobes? Today i looked at her and she had a white earlobe. I looked at a photo to confirm it should be red, and later looked at her again. It was red. Maaaaaybe it had food on it? Is there any chance her earlobe actually changed...

How do i clean their faces? If i put a larger pan of water out, do you think they'll go in it?
