I can't seem to find Baytril available anywhere without a vet's prescription. So it looks like I will just have to continue with the Amoxicillin, unless someone can recommend a better antibiotic that doesn't require a prescription.
Based on a 57 mg per pound dosing, my 4.5 pound pullet should...
She is 4.5 pounds, so I went ahead and gave her 250 mg of Amoxicillin. (Or at least tried too). Also, a vet is not an option, sorry. I might switch to Baytril, thanks! The amoxicillin hopefully will help a little bit in the meantime. She did not strain today, which I think is a good sign?

She is worse now. Yesterday and the day before that, she paid visits to the nest box but with no results. Also, on the same days, I found her straining but not in the nest box. Yesterday I pulled out of her what I think is a lash egg? The length of the entire object is slightly longer...
Why all of a sudden? Should I just let her be, or should I try to treat? (I actually don't know with what, extra calcium via Tums, Sav-a-chick...)
I really hope she isn't getting sick with something.
