Update for this:
They didn't use the chair enough to make it worth taking up all the space, and while I was taking it out, the back came off (these things are ancient!!) I now have the back of the chair leaned up against the wall of the coop, so that it breaks the sightline to the under coop...
The milk jug isn't open, it has a big hole in the front and is completely covered on top. That feeder looks AMAZING!! I'd love to get one but I think that we're happy with our setup right now, and I'm going to start trying some fermented feed. I think that the milk jug will work well with it. If...
Thank you! We allow them to free range under supervision every couple of days. I like the idea of an enclosed area for them to be out in when we're home, but can't watch them, but the concern is covering it. They are very good flyers.
Can't hang the waterer atm because it needs the heated base. Can't hang the feeder because it is on the tray. We tried to get a nipple waterer but tsc didn't have any when we went, and it's a LONG way away. At the height/size we would want, there isn't really any wood to attach perches to, just...
I am worried that with a hanging feeder they will get over enthusiastic, run straight into it, and send it swinging, therefor tipping food out. I am going to try fermented feed, so I think I'll stick to my milk jug. Thanks for the suggestion, though!!!
The one there is from TSC and it said that it could be used for outdoors. Would I need to move it all the way in the coop, or would putting some bricks or paving stones under it be ok?
I do have a pic, but it shows off the things that still need work--one of the roof panels came off the run in...
I tried one but it was too high for them to use properly-I'll try to set one up lower, though. You can't see it in the pics, but the cord for the heated waterer goes out (our hc is a bit weird so we have it going out through that) and there are extension cords to a plug we have on our deck...
Good idea. I went and looked at it and it looked like it *might* be good, but it's also in the front yard. Tomorrow i'll move it next to the run and see what I think.
It's super old and shifts and creaks when you sit on it, but parents haven't given up on it yet. When it does, I'll definitely think about ways I could use it.
I had a branch that I had much higher up in a corner (the crosspiece is horizontal on the side with the food, and I was able to brace a sturdy branch across the corner) but they only used it when I put them on it. I think it was too high for them.
