I know, I got them from a breeder very close. They keep them entirely enclosed. And we aren't in lockdown yet.

I'm afraid the sweet little thing didn't make it back. The vet said it was a lung sac infection, then injected her, but she suddenly rasped and thrashed about and died. Thanks for all the advice and support. If anyone is in this situation, be aware it's a lung problem (similar to...

No, that was bigger chickens. Our (LF) layers have no more glitches so that will remain a mystery. Thanks for replying.

Ok, thank you! I want to give her electrolytes, how much? For a person it's 1 sachet per 200ml.

She seems a normal temp, same as the other hen. I only have one thermometer and can't be sticking it up her vent I'm afraid, but by touch there's nothing abnormally hot or cold, apart from her feet, which never seem to warm up.

I think I'll take both so they are not uncomfortable. Wow I'm even answering my own posts now.

I've been giving her drops of it. I have dipped her beak but she won't drink from the container. I'm taking her to the vet tonight, wish me luck. They scream if parted for a few minutes and get stressed, should I bring them both on the way do you think?

I'm grasping at straws here... No scabs that I can see. Breath doesn't smell that I can tell.

Could she be severely dehydrated? Her skin is now dry and wrinkled and dark. Her breath is almost rasping. She really wants water, but she'll only drink drops from my finger, not even when I dip her beak in the water! I'm so worried.

Anyone? This morning, she ate a few grains, now she's sitting there breathing strangely. Her eyes are almost going back into her head they are now little slits.

She is in bed now but for a time in the day I watched her: She stood there hunched, not walking or pecking, tail low and rocking up and down with her breath She rocked and wandered to the food and pecked a few grains She turned away and stood there again She shifted slightly to follow her...

No sneezing or anything. Just body moving as she breathes.
