    Injured Cornish X

I'll be processing myself, because to me its about making sure I can cut down the demand for store bought, cruelly raised animals. Its not something I enjoy in the slightest, but if I can keep even one animal from going through factory farming, I'll do it. Ultimately, it doesn't make a huge...

    Injured Cornish X

Yeah, it's a bit of a long story to explain what its evolved into, but ill be keeping some for a little breeding project. Depending on if she heals to 100%, I may keep her, though I'll be concerned about her leg's integrity even though it was only a strain. The whole plan is to breed for a...

    Injured Cornish X

A funny side effect of this whole thing that I've noticed is, she's actually quite friendly now, which I feel a little bad about 😅 She comes right up to people, closer than the others, even though they chase me anytime they spot me, she'll try to fly up to land on me, though she can't quite get...

    Injured Cornish X

To elaborate: the day I planned to put her down, I went out to get her and she had escaped her sling and was standing and yelling at me for food. Been watching her the past two days to be sure of her healing, and she's even been reincorporated into her little flock. :) glad to say she healed...

    Injured Cornish X

I had intended on red rangers initially and defaulted to Cornish X's because the rangers were out of stock at the time I ordered. Ive heard about the feed cost discrepancies between the breeds, due to the rangers generally taking longer to mature, but I didn't really want to deal with the issues...

    Injured Cornish X

I suppose its possible, but I highly doubt it. She tends to herd the babies and is more likely to nip at the adults when they're bullying the little ones. She seems to know that they're babies, and she's always been good with little chicks. I would be really surprised if she was at fault, honestly.

    Injured Cornish X

Ive got a dog who watches them like a hawk, so I highly doubt it was a predator. She could have gotten caught on the wire by the far side fence, but I feel like that would have been obvious and I would have seen/heard her struggle. Its a lot of damage for anything like that. I really have no...

    Injured Cornish X

Thats a fair point. I just feel terribly that I didn't catch her wing injury initially, because the leg may have been treatable but I'm thinking along the same lines unfortunately for her. If it gets worse it would just be cruel to let her suffer along for a few more weeks. I may wait a day or...

    Injured Cornish X

Shes only 6 weeks currently, so she and the few I'm not keeping as a breeding project (an experiment really, I have a whole thread on that one. Theyre being feed restricted to prevent premature death and issues) were only going to stay for another 2-4 weeks depending on their size.

    Injured Cornish X

So, one of my Cornish x pullets hurt her leg about three days ago, and it looked like just a sprain, so I gave her a splint and separated her off, and today when I went to check on her after twice daily checks the past few days. She's very active and fiesty, but she's not looking good at all in...
