I definitely do. I’ve brooded 4 batches so far, this is my fifth. I’m adding to both my chicken and duck flocks next year or the year after and hatching some chicks this summer. So yeah it would probably get lots of use.
I realize that, I meant to say I’ll use the cup at FIRST. My initial plan is to start with the cup the first couple days, and then switch to the try waterer, which is much larger and deeper, and meant for rodents I suppose.
Ok, thanks. I won’t have a cage nor will I have wires, I’ll be setting it up on something else, and obviously I could just put a cup underneath to stop spills.
I figure the material is going to be easy to wipe stuff off. As you said here...
Is exactly why I want to use it. I don’t want that stuff on my walls, so I chose this, which is an enclosed brooder.
I’ll be using this as a waterer:
Mine actually has several attachments including horizontal nipple, vertical nipple, and water tray, but I think I’ll use the cup.
It’s a lifesaver, because I can fill it up much easier than one of the UFO waterers.
What do you mean wash it out? If you mean clean it out, I would put a towel on the bottom, out shaving in that, and wrap the old shavings in that.
I don’t use heat lamps anyway, I would use a heat plate.
I do like how it has a removable top too. And yes, I would be using a heat plate because I feel more comfortable with it, and have liked using it in the past. Putting something on the bottom isn’t a bad idea. I figure an old towel to wrap up all the shavings in would be great.
I touched on several different brooders in an article I wrote, and I have my eye on a new one which I would love to try this year so I can add it to the article. However, I just want to hear about your experience with it before I dive right it.
It’s one of those tent style puppy play pens like...
