No idea. I have a theory everything Americans touch turns to crap, but that's not usually very popular here...lol 😂 But you're completely right. My "trash" zebras were obnoxious, had issues breeding due to various reasons (compulsively rebuilding nests and covering eggs, squabbling...

I love Orange-cheeked Waxbills. They are so cute. Blech. Zebras. lol They are so annoying. I was so happy to have some of Garrie Landry's imports to work with. US-bred Zebras are just too feisty for me. And their "song". lol Ick. Haha. At least they'll breed on the bottom row of...

I heated the birdroom. You can offer lamps/heat emitters too, which I've done for the parrot finches.

How talented you are! I did some pencil sketches for some friends' aviaries. I also offered them as an incentive to get people to fill out the NFSS Census.

I kept my parrot finches in flights like that. They seem to fly up and down as much as they do back and forth. Really busy little birds.

That just depends. I wasn't a huge fan of the Austerity diet. I did find in some species the egg food would cause them to double-clutch or wean too early to go back to nest. So for some species I really had to ration it. The Diamond Firetails are also little pigs, so they'd get so fat, even...

At one time I had an entire flight transitioned onto the Zupreem fruit blend pellets formulated for the finches. All the birds seemed to get excited when I opened a bag. It’s very fragrant so I assume they were able to smell them. I do think seed is more natural for them, so I started adding the...

I had a hard time getting all the finches to use the water bottles with the ball. The tubes worked really well for me. I prefer the clear ones so I can see quickly if they got anything icky in it versus the blue ones, and they are so easy to pop in and out of the wire.

These work great! https://kingscages.com/product/canary-finch-seed-dispenser-4w-x-2-75l-x-5-5h/ As do the water tubes. It keeps their water for drinking cleaner. I always gave them dishes too, so they could bathe.

I thought it looked like crushed walnut shells. I used to use that on all my parrots because it is siftable. I didn't love it with the finches because the hulls from their seeds got mixed into it. Once I switched to the ABBA feeders it wasn't such a big deal. But by then I'd switched them...

Here's my old aviary page on Facebook. There's some fish tank photos too, but most of them are of birds. Brushy Creek Aviary and Aquascapes It's easier to share the link so you can go to the album versus me uploading all the pics here.
