Mother cat abandoned four kittens in our attic... does anyone here have any advice?

Honestly you can’t really keep them clean all the time at this age. We would just give them a good wipe down with a damp cloth or baby wipe after every meal. Despite that we usually have to give them a water bath at least once every week or two since sometimes they just get covered in stuff...

Mother cat abandoned four kittens in our attic... does anyone here have any advice?

I’m afraid I don’t have exact numbers but it’s pretty common knowledge around here to keep an extra close eye on younger momma cats. With how small they are sometimes they simply can’t keep up enough of a milk supply. Some still do just fine. But in with others sometimes we have to help with...

Four months is correct. Allowing a cat to get pregnant that young can cause a ton of health issues, stop their growth and they usually aren’t mature enough to make good mothers and end up abandoning or neglecting the kittens

If the kittens were able to drink formula out of the dish just fine you offer a shallow container (like a saucer or Tupperware lid) of water. We usually mix a little bit of formula in but that means you have to replace it and wash it at least 2-3 times a day. You should be able to wean them soon...

Keep a close eye on the little black one. A small amount of dark urine is a sign that they are dehydrated. It should be about the color of lemonade

The safest thing you can probably try is shredded newspaper. Not the adds because of the slick material. I can’t find any information one way or another on sand. If you do use sand I wouldn’t leave it in there when you can’t keep an eye on them. I can’t find any info about whether or not it’s...

Im glad you guys managed to save at least one. Unfortunately people around here like to dump animals anywhere they see a barn or shed. We’ve ended up with several animals because of this.

So cute! They look about 4 to maybe 5 weeks at the oldest. Definitely old enough to offer canned food mixed with formula and I would also give them a shallow litter pan with non clumping litter in it. They may not be quite ready to use it yet but they will be soon. It’s important to make sure...

Do you mind posting a photo of the kittens we might be able to help figure out the age. If they are 4-5 weeks you can try giving them a little canned kitten food mixed with formula. This is the one that the rescue I foster for recommends for us fosters to use.

If they won’t eat then they may be to weak and dehydrated. They could also by impacted because they haven’t had help to poop. I would go ahead and take them straight to the vet if they aren’t eating and or pooping. They could just be picky about the formula and new nipple but either way it’s...

I’d be afraid of kitten claws piercing through the towel and popping the glove.

You’ll need to be very very careful not to let them get chilled or inhale any water while bathing them. Also since I don’t know exactly how much experience you have with bottle babies so I’m going to er on the side of to much info here. Make sure they are belly down while feeding so they don’t...
