Hurrah! 100% hatch. :lau (well... for the Spitz)
Of course MOST were not fertile. I blame the darkness and 3 feet of snow.
One of them... not sure which, peeped for almost 3 days before hatching!! Silly poky chick! The other was just an egg... then, pop... a chick.
So, dark one is golden...
Watching how they act is better than any temperature guide.
Happy chicks, under the correct temperature heat lamp will be active and making happy chick noises.
When they sleep they should be in a loose ring. Middle of ring empty where it is too hot, but that too hot spot should be small...
I would give her fake eggs... put the eggs in the incubator for over night..
Then in the morning, if she is sitting tight, give the eggs back to her.
Good luck!
I am a bit worried.
Only 3 fertile eggs... I hate having to raise lone chicks! Even if all 3 hatch... that will give me a single bantam... who wants to integrate a single chick into the bantam coop? :tongue Not me!
:fl at least 2 hatch just fine!!
I already have a stockpile of eggs to...
:barnie:th:rant:tongue:hit
Ok... I think that covers the range of my emotions...
An incubator FULL of eggs....FULL.
And... 3 developing chicks. THREE!!!!!!
I had what was it? 21 blue eggs at start and ONE is fertile and growing.....ONE.
Of course... my place looks like this:
So...
I am worried that my blue eggs are mostly clears.... :( but the blue shells with the fact that there is too much light in the room with the incubator... means I am not confident.....
Maybe tonight I will be able to see in well enough.
This reminds me why I really prefer white eggs, So easy...
Well... bother...
I am worried that most? All? Of the many, many bantam eggs are infertile????
But they are BLUE eggs, so I never feel confident.
My 2 white eggs.. you can see the embryo so clearly. You can see it wiggle!
So... I tossed ONE blue egg... that I am mostly confident is...
I only had 5 white eggs in there, spitz..Spitz... and THREE were clear.
:(
But, now I can use the egg turner... so yeah? I have one bantam egg stacked on top I need to hand turn... but the rest fit.
I am going to try to candle the bantam eggs today... blue eggs... so much harder to see...
