So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

The past couple of nights (where I was manually installing them into the main coop from their mini-coop) I had noticed that the 'littles' seemed torn between going to the main coop and going to the mini-coop. This morning I figured now would be a good time to close the min coop door. Just a...

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

UPDATE to my UPDATE: :) It is interesting to watch the pullets behavior right now. They go into the mini coop but then exit and start walking towards the main coop and then head back again... over and over. I'm guessing they have to notice the big difference in space they had in the main...

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

Well it went just fine... the pullets did get a poke or two but hardly anything at all. Sandy the Rooster just seemed fine with it all. Big sigh of relief! :) So, I figure for a little bit that I'll probably have to do the night transports to the main coop from the mini coop until they get...

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

Update.... just woke up as I usually do for some odd reason around 2am.. will fall asleep shortly... Anyway, just wanted to mention that I installed the pullets into the main coop after 9:30pm last night. No issues... The only sound (crowing) I heard from the rooster when he overheard the...

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

Now hopefully that serves some well when they're in the same coop instead of on a perch in the open run. :-)

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

I did have that one thought. There's one or two that could be an issue although there's specifically one I'm thinking of. Thankfully typically roost a little further up the ladder. Thanks for the suggestion though. The whole reason too for the mini Coop besides initial little spot for a little...

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

Will do I decided not to put it off any longer there's no reason to - I'm going to do it tonight. I figure I'll put the four bullets into the little carrier I use to transport chicken sometimes they've been in it before. Then I'll head over to the main door of the coop activate the door and...

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

Thanks! :-) I was starting to get concerned only because I had read that sometimes Sapphire gems can start laying kind of early around 16 weeks or so. I'm the remote chance that perhaps I had some hens that might possibly lay earlier, I didn't want them to be in the little mini Coop which is not...

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

Just a quick question.... About how old on average are pullets when they start venturing into the main coop on their own, as you mention? Mine will be 15 weeks old this Wednesday and so far they are going into the mini-coop at night and I was just wondering?

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

UPDATE: The pullets will be 13 weeks old on this Wednesday. Seems to be going well in the run area although the pullets still are in their mini-coop and haven't migrated to the main coop with the rest of the flock. I think things are going well in terms of their integration with the flock...

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

I like this approach a lot. Should work well because the mini Coop is just that. Seems a better way to work with the process rather than imposing it based on some arbitrary timeline. Many thanks! :-) this is what I was kind of hoping for 👍

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

They have ventured into it once or twice, but not with any regularity. There are multiple roosting bars they could have all to their own in the coop. As to the last line of your reply - the 'blood flying' is what I'm trying to avoid.

So far so good.. I think... Wondering if subflocks will combine on their own into the main coop?

Well so far so good (I think) . The Sapphire Gems will be 12 weeks old on this coming Wednesday. As I've observed in the past the immature pullets remain more of a subflock. So far the regular flock (with their rooster) are in the main coop and my Sapphire Gems go to their temporary (I hope)...
