Mine get theirs pretty high up though, plus there are usually 2 or so and the one I see looks like the first one that never fully curls. Next would be a really sharp curl that would be the telltale sign. Gotta see the whole duck, though, and maybe try and hear him/her to see what she sounds...

Looks like a drake feather to me, can I see the whole duck though? It is pretty young for one
