    Snake in coop

I've never been to Bogalousa, but back in the day I remember them having a fantastic Lil League team. My people are from SW Louisiana. How they got there is a whole 'nother story. ETA, Yes, go Wildkats!

    Snake in coop

Here's a pretty good picture of a rat snake. This one was inside our future house (in the middle of full remodel) chilling in the box he's in. We were sitting right beside it for a while before I noticed it. It was relocated down the street.

    Snake in coop

Well, it kept a snake in. We killed one and tossed it in the run for the chickens to eat. I guess it had a bit more life left and it got all tangled up in the netting while trying to get out of the run. I think the trick to the netting is what you saw in the video. Loosely about, not tight and...

    Snake in coop

Ugh, fire ants. I hope you win the battle with them. I've only had success at getting them to move by putting cinnamon on them. It didn't kill, but they relocated. My husband prefers poison so when I'm not looking he puts Amdro on them. 🙃 I got my netting from Amazon. I think it was about $4 or...

Husband and I are going to have a copperhead collar made for Georgia out of the next one. Thanks for the idea!

We do the same thing. So far, we've only had copperheads and all sorts of "good snakes". What type of ants are you fighting? Did you get netting on your coop yet?

    Snake in coop

So far, no alerting from my girl, but she's still patrolling. I have a Dobermann from a Euro working line. I've trained her to my preferences and needs. She's a smart girl. Different alert depending on venomous or non with snakes. Copperhead was nearer my 11 in the brooder than my flock of 16...

Got a Copperhead today, too. My dog will patrol a while longer. Might get the second one before bed, or I've got a loner.

Hopefully you had a loner. 🤞

    Snake in coop

Copperheads tend to travel about in pairs. There's some netting you can put that wrecks a snake up. It's inexpensive and works very well. I have it in between my predator apron and run walls. I learned about it from TexasPrepper2 on YouTube.
