I had built them a bigger pen, put them in, and checked on them later. The dark blue chick escaped, then tried to squeeze back in, got stuck, and it was really hot. I rescued him, but he still passed away. I have since plugged the hole.
Today's very nice, I took my 4 chicks out for photos...
The broody hen doesn't have the chicks, I just wanted a reaction. She really liked the little blonde chick, but then she wanted to get back to her dummy eggs.
Below is the darker gray chick...
Nobody has names.
I went to AZ once, I was going to buy a ring, it was turquoise, but it had dark spots, that looked like a frowny face, I had to trade the ring back for a different one.
I coo to my eggs to encorage.
My 5 eggs are due on Fri...one wants to come early. It may have been slightly more developed when set, I am not going to get overly excited. (Store eggs from local farm.)
The yellow rack they are in is not hooked up to anything, just resting cups.
These are my hens eggs from this AM.
Below I got these local eggs from the store, I have hatched before. I marked them and gave them to a broody.
I have 5 eggs hatching in a few days. After they hatch, I will give the chicks to this hen and take these eggs for the incubator.
