Jewelers screwdriver works great for me--just use the 'corner' of a regular head small one, scratch a little where you want your hole, then gently push it in. I can then carefully pry away a little more shell if I want the hole bigger. -

I still blow 'em out the old fashioned way, headaches and all, but don't do enough to worry about it... BUT, I have always had a lot of success using a small jewelers screwdriver to make the holes--works really well for me, sort of use the corner of it to gently push through and make a small... -
