Most of them feathered out in the colors predicted. They are much bigger/fluffier than leghorns.
This one has an interesting "bib" pattern. If you squint, it almost looks like the bird in the first post.
Thank you for the helpful information. I was planning on keeping one of each color, but it sounds like I will need to keep them all, ha ha ha. Will post more pictures once they achieve their final form (in about 6 weeks, I presume).
My Whiting True Blue chicks arrived this week. I am very impressed with Murray McMurray. The chicks arrived within 2 days, lively and full of energy. I believe they were eating gro-gel during the trip, as most of them already had wing feathers coming in.
Out of 25, I got 3 yellow chicks (one...
So cute! After I saw your earlier chick videos, I logged into my Murray McMurray account to double the number of WTBs in my order. But they are now sold out of WTBs until summer 🥺 AHHH why didn't I order more to begin with.
Yes, you are exactly right! My first white leghorns had black dots! Actually I think they were California White Leghorns, which apparently have something else mixed in.

Very cool! I still have a couple of barred hens (they look like the one with white spots, but female)...
I had white leghorns at the beginning, but that color turned to barred after a single generation of admixture. I also had some wheaten hens that I tried to reproduce, but their offspring always came out brown.
Your info is helpful. I have a full order of 15 WTBs, but only plan to keep half and...
I must be doing something wrong. I started out with a colorful flock 10 years ago, but after many generations, all the chicks I hatch now are brown, black, or brownish black.
Seems odd that there would be so much color variation if the breeder was just trying to optimize for egg size/color. Other production breeds all look the same within the breed (eg white leghorns and ISA brown).
Just thinking out loud, but if I breed Whiting True Blues in my backyard, are they...
I'm ordering Whiting True Blues from Murray McMurray. The descriptions say that feather colors vary widely -- do they try to breed for different colors and send a variety, or does every batch look about the same? I'm hoping to get something that looks like the cover photo for Whitings; not sure...
