Another way to tick off a rooster... I bought one of those dog harnesses and a leash for when we travel together. He likes the harness but pecks the leash. He can still fly great in it though. Never thought I would be walking a chicken!

Update on the rooster: I have put some blu kote on there to prevent infection (Got my fingers and toes too), vet wrapped it, and put him in the chick run. He managed to get one of the two band aids off last night but the remaining one held enough for the wound to stick together. He is not...

Do you think he will need any antibiotics? I tried my best to clean it but some spots would make him bleed more that's why I opted for the soak.

Looking for advise. Raccoon attack in the middle of the day. Rooster fought it and now has a giant slash in his foot from the top of the toes all the way to the ankle. I soaked the foot in honey water for about 15 min and put band aids on it to keep the skin flap in place. It is still bleeding a...

Yes, it is possible but requires more training then most are willing to commit to. You have to get both the dogs to accept the chickens as part of their pack and get the chickens to accept the dogs as flock protector. If the chickens fear the dog then they will run and get chased. Start early...

It looks full size to me. I have found that they prefer 20% crumble. Don't put too many together because they will cannibalize each other. Mine like to be pet and will come to the door and put their sides towards me to be picked up. Make sure the roof is 12" and less or 3' and over as noises...

Good training goes a long way. I have active bird hunting dogs that protect my flock. I have not lost a bird yet to them however, if I cull a bird they do try to take off with it after it is plucked.

I think almost all of us built them ourselves. Then rebuilt, expanded, and built a second one... It's not that hard for a standard square coop with a slope roof. If you want fancy you need to have skills, have someone else build it, or buy one. Beware of prebuilt ones in stores as they are not...
